There is an additional 3.35% Management Differential which is added to the posted salary for this class.
Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs and reviews all phases of the county-wide financial accounting and reporting, auditing, and payroll for the County of Sacramento.
Knowledge of:
- Principles and methods of management, supervision and training.
- Various professional accounting and auditing standards, including but not limited to generally accepted accounting and auditing standards, standards set by Governmental Accounting Standards Board; Financial Accounting Standards Board, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the state and federal government.
- Accounting and auditing procedures for governmental entities.
- Fiscal and financial management; public financing concepts.
- Application of data processing systems to accounting and fiscal management.
- Payroll processing.
- Methods and procedures of governmental budget preparation and control.
Ability to:
- Plan, coordinate, supervise and direct the activities of the Auditor-Controller Division.
- Interpret, explain and apply generally accepted accounting and auditing principles.
- Analyze fiscal problems and develop and implement effective solutions.
- Develop, modify and install accounting systems and procedures.
- Maintain effective relationships with employees, County departments, the public, and outside agencies.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field;
AND
Progressively responsible accounting or auditing experience, including five years of responsible management-level supervisory and administrative experience.
Note: If the word “experience” is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.

Probationary Period:
The probationary period for this classification is twelve (12) months.
