Job Summary: The Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis leads all health system financial reporting functions of Saint Francis Health System (SFHS) which includes preparing month-end, ad-hoc presentations and reports, operating and capital budgets, and analyzing and reporting on monthly variances. This role observes and adheres to generally accepted accounting principles and ensures the accurate reporting of accounting data and the analysis. The manager assists in the development and implementation of new initiatives.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience. Prior Workday or Epic experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced decision making, multitasking, and organizational skills easily navigating effectively in a business environment. Ability to think swiftly and analyze implications of changes in processes and operations within the health system. Ability to integrate the analysis of data to discover facts or develop knowledge, concepts, or interpretations. Ability to analyze complex data and prepare written and visual reports for senior leadership and the Board of Directors. Working knowledge of budgeting concepts and systems. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Prepares annual operating and capital budget, internal/external financial and statistical reports including balance sheet, income statement, and departmental profit and loss statements. Analyzes impacts of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on existing and new transactions. Implements and maintains effective internal controls over the equity accounting process, as well as participate in internal/external audits and provides necessary documentation and support as needed. Prepares various analysis and variances as needed. Explains financial performance and variances at highly detailed level in partnership with other finance managers and directors.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.
Working Relationships: Direct supervision of others. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
