Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for managing plant and finance operations for Farmington Road facility including cost accounting, inventory and revenue recognition. The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for producing timely and accurate reporting, including daily, monthly, and yearly financials, and assisting with forecasts and budgets. S/He will guide financial activities by creating and enforcing policies and procedures. S/He will work closely with Farmington Road department leaders including Quality, Purchasing and Operations, to understand issues impacting the company and educate/inform on cost drivers and variances. The Senior Financial Analyst will be viewed as a strategic partner to management and will help support the company’s visions and goals.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job and assures that all those supervised do the same.
- Must possess and demonstrate a thorough understanding and working knowledge of QMC-EMI’s Core Values, Vision and Mission Statements and their requirements.
- Manages and directs the operation of the finance and accounting to ensure the accuracy and timelines of information recorded and published.
- Manages and administers the financial reporting, cash management, accounting, costing and administrative support functions in such a manner as to ensure the integrity and security of financial reports and records.
- Assists, in conjunction with the Director of FP&A and key managers, the annual budget and systems to report and measure actual performance against budget on a monthly basis.
- Assists managers in identifying, reporting and correcting the causes of variances from budget.
- Maintains a system to monitor, on a current and consistent basis, the progress of QMC in achieving its cost and gross margin targets; ensures that all costs are properly recorded against open projects and ensures that all billing is completed in a timely and accurate manner by required deadlines.
- Ensures that data required to support and maintain banking relationships and ownership needs is provided on a timely and accurate basis in accordance with covenant compliance and reporting requirements.
- Maintains cooperative working relationships and communications with other department managers to provide operational management with the advice and support required from the finance, accounting and purchasing functions to achieve their goals.
- Ensures the adequacy of record keeping and accounting procedures to protect the integrity of work-in-process and inventory valuation.
- Ensures the integrity and security of accounting and financial records.
- Assures that sound internal control systems are utilized and that all financial books and records are prepared accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP.
- Communicates operating issues, plans, goals and results to the Director of FP&A and key managers.
- The Senior Financial Analyst will support the Company’s safety initiative.
- The Senior Financial Analyst leads the finance responsibilities for the physical inventory for the plant.
- Leads the tracking of the capital expenditures and comparison to budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree with a major in Accounting or Finance.
- At least four years experience in financial reporting or accounting in a manufacturing organization, preferably within the auto or aerospace industries.
- A strong commitment to success with a “can do / will do” attitude and opportunistic outlook.
- Financial reporting and accounting experience, including cost analysis, in a manufacturing environment with increasing areas of responsibility.
- Understanding of manufacturing cost centers and departments including product costing, overhead absorption, pricing practices and productivity measurements.
- High level of ability with database, spreadsheets or other analysis tools.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to clearly explain ideas. Demonstrated ability to simplify the complex.
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to successfully meet deadlines and work under pressure.
