Position Summary
The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for management of all business functions and procedures of the revenue process, ensuring compliance with company policy and ensuring that revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP. The Revenue Accounting Manager works in close collaboration with other teams, including IT, sales staff, and project management. This position will oversee a Revenue Accountant and will be reporting to the Controller.
Essential Responsibilities
- Reviews and directs the work of staff, effectively managing resources to create career growth opportunities and backup coverage.
- Prepares work schedules, assigns duties, and examines work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies.
- Provides coaching and leadership support to team members in order to challenge and develop the team.
- Records data into project and cost accounting financial system.
- Analyzes project tracking data to ensure that actual and estimated costs are appropriately recorded.
- Advises on preparation of budgets/forecasts based on project-specific knowledge.
- Analyzes budget to actual variances by project and provides guidance to management accordingly.
- Analyzes changes in project design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
- Works closely with operations, engineering, and other key stakeholders to track progress on all active projects, provide information to improve operations, and identify opportunities.
- Establishes key performance metrics to drive operational efficiency in recording revenue as well as accelerating the recognition of revenue.
- Monitors projects as they come online in new states and assist with required licensing and registration.
- Performs monthly deep dive project reviews with the operations team to ensure proper percentage of completion compared to accumulated costs and estimated budgets.
- Identifies and leads the implementation of best practices in revenue team.
- Develops revenue reporting tools.
- Develops and deploys revenue recognition training to key stakeholders and provide the training quarterly.
- Prepares monthly closing journal entries and account reconciliations for revenue accounts.
- Provides information to external and internal audit teams related to Internal Controls.
- Performs ad hoc projects and analysis.
- Assist the Controller in day-to-day operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting
- Experience in Cost Accounting or Revenue Analysis
- Strong spreadsheet analysis skills (Excel, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to interact with our valued team members
