Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is charged with the administration of the Control Department and finances, servicing the Company to meet or exceed objectives while safeguarding and preserving all resources and properties of the Company.
The Accounting Manager will report to the Controller of MP Systems and will monitor and audit MP Systems departments with recommendations to the Controller, President, and Branch Managers, serving as a financial resource and service to all personnel.
Processing:
- Understand and assist Branch and Project Managers in all aspects of the OPS System: Bid process, job plans, change orders, schedule of values, forecasting, and project analysis.
- Facilitate licensing requirements for various states, counties, cities, and occupations. Maintain a current database of various licenses.
- Study existing control procedures and policies, present findings, and make recommendations to management.
- Review and assess the operation of general office routines and make recommendations concerning staffing needs.
Reports:
- Manage and supervise payroll and accounts payable functions and staff to provide an efficient team to perform accounting functions. Evaluate employee performance, recommend promotions or disciplinary actions.
- Maintain records of all fixed assets including monthly depreciation, acquisitions, and disposals. Maintain current licensing on all applicable assets and facilitate property tax returns.
- Coordinate with external auditors in annual and special audit functions regarding assigned specific areas.
- Reconcile asset and liability accounts monthly.
- Facilitate completion of month-end financial closings. Prepare accurate and timely branch profit and loss reports, cash flow, and other supporting reports.
Controller Support:
- Function as Controller in Controller’s absence.
- In Controller’s absence, sign along with another designated officer of the company checks.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting required.
Prior experience required.
Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable.
Extensive knowledge of standard accounting procedures, company policies, standards, and the requirements of construction contracts required.
Communication skills to deal effectively and appropriately with people over the phone and in person.
Writing skills utilizing strong grammar knowledge in order to convey information and ideas in letters, memos, etc., so others will understand.
Ability to reason and think logically in problem-solving.
Professional and positive attitude toward responsibilities and coworkers.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize various daily responsibilities.
Competence to keep company information strictly confidential.
Ability to see details and recognize errors, working within precise standards of accuracy.
