Position Title: Assistant Director of Financial Aid (Part-Time)
Job Description: The Assistant Director has the responsibility for providing financial assistance to all students through counseling and awarding of financial aid packages for students. The Assistant Director is responsible for the administration of the Maryland State Scholarship programs and serves as the primary contact with the Maryland Higher Education Commission. The Assistant Director also manages the posting of athletic scholarships to student accounts based on award information provided by the Athletic Department. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid who is responsible to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, financial aid programs, and costs.
- Assists students and parents in the completion of the FAFSA and other financial aid forms.
- Responsible for the management of the MHEC scholarship programs which includes posting of awards from MHEC, billing, reporting of enrollment, GPA, and verification.
- Management of all rosters and payment requests.
- Disbursement of MHEC funds to student accounts.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree with knowledge of financial aid procedures and regulations plus two to three years experience and/or on-the-job training.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with financial aid software programs, with preferences towards PowerFaids, Edexpress, and EdConnect.
Minor Tasks:
- Conducts financial aid workshops for admissions events on campus.
- Responds to student emails.
- Attends Federal and State financial aid meetings and conferences.
- Assists the Director of Financial Aid in updating financial aid publications.
- Completes reports for state agencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
