The Senior Accountant – Inspire Company Restaurants (ICR) Revenue Accounting will assist in performing the revenue accounting function for corporate-owned stores in accordance with GAAP. This position will lead a team of staff/lead accountants in their business processes related to sales audit and cash settlements, as well as certain reporting and analysis activities. This position will coach and develop these accountants, while also serving as a key liaison between the ICR Revenue Accounting team and other Inspire business partners (e.g., Restaurant Accounting, Operations, FP&A, etc.). Further, this role will contribute to the achievement of the Company’s timely and accurate reporting by assisting with OneInspire Finance process improvement initiatives and department goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the go-to for onboarding new accountants to the team. Assist in training accountants on accounting policies and reviewing their work each period to ensure they are in compliance. Set an example by maintaining an excellent working knowledge and a high level of proficiency in sales audit and cash settlement domains, including leading practices across technology applications and key business processes.
- Supervise accountants to ensure all sales and cash reconciliations deadlines are met and all reconciling issues are followed up on with Operations, IT, Financial Systems, and the banks in a timely manner. Review staff comments on all closing schedules, operations reporting, sales audit and cash settlement activities to verify appropriateness of accounting treatment. Assist the manager in leading the ICR Revenue Accounting team as a valued business partner within the Inspire organization. Communicate issues to manager in a timely manner.
- Review and prepare balance sheet and bank reconciliations and journal entries each period to ensure completeness and accuracy. Handle accounting transactions with little or no supervision.
- Review the profit & loss statements including sales revenue, cash over/short, and all other relevant accounts with accountants and post correcting journal entries each period to ensure appropriate GAAP treatment.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication from the accountants to other departments, such as Operations, Treasury, Financial Systems, and Loss Prevention.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency of the monthly and quarterly close process while maintaining strong internal controls.
- Adhere to effective internal control environment. Assist in the interim and annual audit process with internal and external auditors by preparing and reviewing audit deliverables and financial statement disclosure support.
- Serve as the team’s go-to when accountants raise issues requiring support from the following: the Financial Systems, IT, banks, credit card processing centers, and armored carrier vendors.
- Demonstrate an ownership mentality. Recommend solutions when confronted with issues or complex problems. Take initiative to learn areas outside their normal job responsibilities. Perform ad-hoc projects to help analyze and support Company decisions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 Year Degree
- Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate preferred
- 3-7 years accounting experience
- Prior accounting experience with ERP financial systems
