The Governance & Controls Senior Vice President will report to the CAO/Head of Governance & Controls for the CBNA CRO risk segment and will work in collaboration with the CBNA CRO team, as well as key constituents across Independent Risk Management (IRM) and the businesses, driving efforts to support the enhancement, consistent approach, and maintenance of CBNA's regulatory control environment focusing on Tier 1 regulations including Legal Lending Limit, Regulation F, and other important regulations. The incumbent will support initiatives to improve the ongoing operation of the regulatory control program which includes a common approach to policies, standards as well as execution related to issue identification, root cause analysis/evaluation, remediation, closure, monitoring, reporting, and escalation to promote comprehensive, leverageable, accurate, and timely issue resolution. The role will require the individual to develop relationships with counterparts within the team and across IRM, Business and Functional units, and offers broad exposure to CBNA management as well as senior leaders in IRM and business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Governance & Controls in the management and enhancement of the control environment of the Chief Risk Office (CRO) for CBNA.
- Accountable for the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy and Control Inventory.
- Provide expertise and assist in the enhancement of the governance framework for Legal Lending Limit and other Tier 1 Bank Regulations across CBNA, ensuring a consistent approach to the management of these regulations.
- Work with partners across the segment and IRM to execute the Manager Control Assessment (MCA, i.e. Risk & Control Self-Assessment) as required by the MCA Standard including the assessment and appropriate approval of risk associated with business changes.
- Enhance and support an effective end-to-end issue management program, including robust root cause analysis, gap analysis, timely remediation, and effective ongoing governance and reporting.
- Support Consent Order and Transformation deliverables as needed.
- These responsibilities may vary and or be enhanced as required by the needs of the Office of the CBNA CRO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's required; Master's preferred.
- 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in financial services.
- Experience with bank regulatory compliance: Legal Lending Limit knowledge preferred.
- Experience in development of control frameworks, risk frameworks, controls development across business processes or technology, possibly in a consulting or strategy role.
- Capable of quickly learning and understanding new and complex topics.
- Demonstrated experience in guiding deliverables and recommendations and taking initiative on projects or team tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with colleagues across disparate businesses, regions, and cultures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, amongst other business applications. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point skills preferred.
