ABOUT THE ROLE
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities related to business operations. This position also performs basic accounting and financial reporting functions, such as general ledger entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, reporting, accounts payable review and coding. The Staff Accountant assists in the month-end close process and preparation of supporting documents for the annual audit to meet internal and external deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Financial Record Keeping
- Assists in the day-to-day operations of accounting and finance in a fast-growing healthcare environment.
- Maintain and update financial records and transactions using accounting software (Quickbooks).
- Record accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately.
- Perform data entry for general ledger entries.
- Records and monitors tracking of inventory by various locations.
- Reconciliation and Auditing
- Assists in month-end close and preparation of various balance sheet reconciliations.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
- Assist in vendor rebate reporting by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Review and verify accuracy of expense reports and reimbursements.
- Performs periodic data analysis to report recent and historical financial performance.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and relevant regulations.
- Maintain organized and detailed financial records and documentation for audits and reference.
- Analysis, Collaboration and Communication
- Assists in the planning and implementation of various business processes to improve and support business processes and activities in a high-growth environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with GL/Accounting software such as Quickbooks. Technical proficiency in accounting systems and basic financial analysis tools.
- Data Analysis: Proven ability to use technology to collect and manipulate data via pivot tables, determine significant findings, and present reports.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Independence and Accountability: Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while maintaining accountability under strict deadlines.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Effectively organize workspace and prioritize tasks requiring accuracy, working independently under general supervision.
- Integrity and Confidentiality: Adhere to honest and ethical healthcare and business practices, including abiding by HIPAA guidelines and respecting patients' privacy.
- Intermediate Computer Proficiency: Knowledge and ability to use standard office software applications, including Internet, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently, in office and remote.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
- Mid-level position suitable for recent graduates or individuals with up to 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- CPA or pursuing CPA.
