What you'll do
As the Senior Financial Analyst for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in Bristol, IN, you will be responsible for providing strategic planning and multi-site budget coordination support under the direction of the Plant Controller.
You will also be involved with coordinating business planning activities along with preparing and presenting financial statements in alignment with corporate policies and practices.
In addition, you will be accountable for overseeing internal controls and compliance, month-end close (journal entries and reporting), and for supporting the Plant Controller and management team with information and examinations of plant costs, inventory management, and business partnerships.
You will also:
- Manage spend, material, labor variance, overhead analysis, forecasting, KPI management, and reporting
- Safeguard, evaluate and track cost-out opportunities
- Spearhead multi-site continuous improvement initiatives
- Reconcile balance sheets, monitor key statistical entries, and oversee manufacturing variances
- Oversee payroll and other financial reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures according to GAAP
- Maintain standard costs, bill of material cost rolls, PPV analysis, and monthly journal entries
- Act as the finance subject matter expert for the plant
- Support the areas of process performance, line efficiency, capital spending (ROIC), inventory management, customer service goals, production costing, and cost reduction
- Ensure that plant activity for production, shipments, plant expenses, and inventory adjustments are recorded timely and accurately
- Monitor and implement plant internal controls and guarantee reporting integrity
- Identify and communicate risks
- Deliver daily and weekly spend and KPI reports and accurately communicate financial performance
- Support inquiries in weekly/monthly report of expenses and identify areas for enhancement
- Provide insightful commentary of drivers behind variances and month-to-month vs. prior-year forecast and budget
- Review materials and labor production variances and partner with the business owners to find root cause
- Prepare and present labor straight time and overtime daily for review
- Effectively monitor and communicate key spending categories including maintenance, supplies, and consumables
- Review inventory cycle counts and steer effective root causes with the business
- Approve monthly cycle count adjustments and assist in period-end physical inventory
- Assist in forecasting and communicating working capital improvement plans involving capex, raw inventory, finished goods, and contract assets
What you need to be successful
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
- Five or more (5+) years of finance/accounting experience in a similar role
- Strong cost accounting and inventory control experience within a manufacturing environment
- MBA or CPA (Preferred)
- Willingness to be onsite 4 days a week
- A track record of partnering with operations to help drive financial results
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting
- Versed in financial statement examination and strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
- Power BI experience (Preferred)
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
- Understanding of computer-driven process controls and enterprise resource systems in a manufacturing facility
- Knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method
- Strong and consistent attention to detail
- Proficient in planning, organizing, and providing examinations in all phases of the accounting process
- Sound judgment with the ability to make timely decisions
- Versatility, flexibility, and the willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
