Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. Job Summary
This position assists the Director of Financial Aid in planning and implementing policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office.
Responsibilities
Administers All Aspects of Position (60%) -
Assists in developing and directing financial aid strategies; ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and with the enrollment management objectives of the college; assists in administering financial aid, scholarships and student employment programs that support student recruitment and retention.
Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and attending training and/or courses. Remains informed of revisions and updates to financial aid regulations.
Assists with hiring, supervising, training, evaluating, and providing work direction and guidance to assigned staff. Plans and coordinates internal and external training for office personnel. Directs the maintenance of department files and records.
Oversees a Variety of Federal, State, and Institutional Financial Aid Programs (30%) -
Reviews and processes Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeals; reviews and processes Special Circumstances and Dependency Appeals. Oversees a variety of federal and state financial aid programs.
Assist students and parents; provides information and assistance; resolves complex problems. Determines student eligibility for the various financial aid programs.
Coordinates and participates in financial aid workshops, orientations or other events.
Other Duties as Assigned (10%) -
Performs other related duties specific to financial aid regulatory requirements and day-to-day operations as assigned by supervisor and/or to provide maximum office efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Required Experience
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
