We are seeking a full-time Financial Counselor to work for our Pulmonary West Clinic located in SW Portland. You will work with exceptional physicians who value their team and working together to help our patients get the best possible care.
Our busy practice receives a high volume of patient appointments and calls, and we are searching for an experienced financial counselor with excellent customer service skills and extensive healthcare experience who will have direct interaction with patients and their families either on the phone or in person. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
Primary duties include interpreting and communicating out-of-pocket expenses to patients, accepting/posting payments and setting up payment arrangements, and proactively discussing balances due and collecting payments upfront. They will provide financial, insurance, and payment information to assist patients in preparing for upcoming office visits, procedures, surgeries, hearing aids, and resolving account balances.
Workdays will be Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with early morning or late afternoon flexibility as needed. Starting pay range, based on experience: $21.08 – $28.52 per hour.
Medical, Vision, and Rx Insurance is 100% paid for by The Oregon Clinic for full-time employees.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting, healthcare insurance company, or managed care organization
- At least two years of experience in a medical billing/collection position preferred
- Prior EPIC experience needed.
- Experience with MS Office preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing practices, insurance coding, and customer service required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task with little supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively and courteously with patients, physicians, providers, payors, and co-workers.
