As part of the Sales Department, the Estimator partners with Sales Representatives and is responsible for the design and quoting of equipment, materials, and labor necessary for Specialty Systems. Bids could include small service calls to large multi-system construction projects which are completed over several years. The Estimator should ensure the best price to win the contract in a competitive bidding situation while maintaining profitability. Responsibilities include gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents; using design best practices and standards; generating labor, material, and time requirements. The Estimator must follow-up with subcontractors, vendors, and distributors to ensure timely information and collaborate with Project Management and implementation teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Sales Representatives with technical opportunity qualification.
- Meet with customers to understand expectations and scope of work.
- Build comprehensive scopes for the work being performed.
- Communicate with Sales Team, Solution Architects, Subcontractors, and Vendors.
Desired Skills and Abilities
- Experience with survey and design tools such as Bluebeam Revu or System Surveyor preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Visio required.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP/CRM systems beneficial.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction and specialty systems sales required.
- Experience with installation or project coordination in the electrical and telecommunication fields preferred.
- Familiarity working with education, government, or public sector customers beneficial.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Completion of low-voltage industry certifications preferred.
Travel
Regional travel greater than 50% overall is expected.
