Role Summary:
The Function Analyst works within a diverse team of engineers to deliver vehicle services and functions in North America. The responsibilities consist of supporting the concept, development, and maintenance of a vehicle function (for example, remote services, multimedia, etc). The Function Analyst coordinates the product development process, failure analysis and correction, and series production support, while supporting the product lifecycle planning, including product and usability concepts and competitive evaluation.
Role Responsibilities:
Connected Service Development and Integration (90%)
- Technical coordinator for the responsible function
- Ensuring compliance with legal, security, and safety requirements for the responsible function in the North American market
- Responsible to manage the product development process for the responsible function and its application into North American vehicles, including prototyping, integration, failure analysis and correction
- Ensuring compliance of the responsible function with relevant project milestones, such as B-sample, C-sample, and final production release.
- Responsible to manage product priorities and mitigate risks and roadblocks throughout the development process
- Participation in and setup of all necessary meetings and committees to fulfill the requirements above
- Regular status report preparation
NAR Region Critical Infotainment Topic Support (10%)
- Evaluates product concerns from field products with detailed analysis and resolution recommendation with the supplier and other component owners throughout the world to ensure no side effects to other markets occur
- Works closely with Quality to review field concerns and identify root cause; defines countermeasures with the supplier and component owners when product changes are necessary
Qualifications:
Years of Experience:
- 3+ years of related engineering and project management experience
Education - Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent - required
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Skills:
- Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
- Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
- Computer savvy – skilled in the use of software
- Integration – joining people, processes or systems
- Influencing and negotiation skills
- German skills written and verbal are advantageous
Specialized Skills - Required:
- Experience with automotive control module root cause analysis
- Knowledge of vehicle communication networks
- Experience with automotive infotainment control module SW Development and Feature Design
- Experience in automotive product management
- Ability and drive to remain up to date on latest industry trends
- Strong presentation and summation skills
- Experience in connected services and connected application development
- Experience with cloud development and authentication
- Experience with Volkswagen infotainment control modules
Work Flexibility:
- Travel to the suppliers and VW facilities
