The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Helping departments map out current and future state business processes and developing flow diagrams;
- Working with department subject matter experts to define scope, schedule, and prioritization of business projects;
- Documenting and validating decisions and project requirements with subject matter experts to validate desired outcomes;
- Working closely with department subject matter experts to identify, document, and model processes and reports in the business analysis system;
- Communicating and escalating risks and issues related to assigned projects as appropriate;
- Tracking and reporting on all enhancement requests from department managers;
- Helping maintain business User Guides through updates and workflow changes;
- Providing training on business processes and procedures as needed;
- Creating, updating, and maintaining electronic forms, workflows, and reports in the business analysis system;
- Providing access to appropriate reports for specific positions (e.g., supervisor or manager reports);
- Providing end user support within business analysis system;
- Identifying, documenting, and validating business, functional, and technical requirements for projects requiring IT resources, including those requiring software development efforts;
- Participating in project requirement, planning, and review sessions and walkthroughs with business stakeholders, vendors, and MIS employees;
- Performing current state analysis of existing business systems, applications, and functions;
- Producing requirements-related work products, including specifications, process flow diagrams, mockups, storyboards, and wireframes;
- Understanding and documenting core business functions, processes, and workflows associated with a variety of departments and projects;
- Understanding core systems, applications, and technical platforms;
- Becoming a subject matter expert on a variety of processes who can easily liaise between MIS and other departments;
- Collaborating with MIS and other departments to develop business cases and cost-benefit analyses associated with new project requests;
- Identifying and mitigating project issues and/or risks related to requirements;
- Reviewing and evaluating technical solution design to ensure it meets business requirements and long term product goals;
- Creating data visualizations and reports using modern business intelligence (BI) tools connected to data from various sources (e.g., databases, spreadsheets, or files);
- Acting as primary backup for the Technical Project Manager;
- Assisting with other duties as assigned.
Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience);
- Knowledge of computer programming logic;
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, metrics analysis, methodologies, and documentation standards;
- Highly self-motivated and self-managed; ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal coaching or supervision;
- Ability to organize and work under strict time and production deadlines while producing quality deliverables;
- Ability to learn new software and systems quickly;
- Excellent verbal and written communications with both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft products (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and Powerpoint);
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
