The Job
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, performing general ledger accounting, handling accounts payable (AP) where the AP team requires assistance, overseeing local and state sales tax filings, and assisting with month-end and year-end close. Additionally, the role involves fixed asset maintenance, prepayments, stock maintenance, streamlining processes, and providing support for audits and technical accounting matters.
Salary Range for CO: $60,000 - $80,000
What You’ll Do
General Ledger Accounting:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
- Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis.
Accounts Payable (where required):
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile AP accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage vendor relationships and handle inquiries.
- Assist the AP team with W-9 filings and ensure compliance with IRS regulations.
Sales Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file local and state sales tax returns where required.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of sales tax filings and payments.
- Oversee the implementation of Avalara for sales tax automation.
Fixed Asset Maintenance:
- Track and record fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Reconcile fixed asset accounts and maintain the fixed asset register.
Stock Maintenance:
- Manage inventory records and perform periodic reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate stock valuation and reporting.
Prepayments and Accruals:
- Record and monitor prepayments and accruals.
- Reconcile prepayment accounts and ensure timely recognition of expenses.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Streamline accounting procedures and workflows.
Audit and Technical Accounting:
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Address technical accounting issues and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct is an advantage and Microsoft Office Suite/Google Suite.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with local and state sales tax filings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
