Overview:
The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund, a prominent regional cooperative and rural economic development organization, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Accountant to manage financial activities, particularly in grant fund management and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining fiscal integrity and supporting the organization's mission to preserve Black-owned farms and foster rural development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Fund Management:
- Oversee both public and private grant funds.
- Prepare necessary documentation for grant reimbursement, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Record and track all checks and deposits received from grantors.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive budget-to-actual reports for all grant accounts.
- Assist in the creation of financial reports, including Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, General Ledger, and Trial balance.
- Support in external audit preparation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Accounting Operations: Efficiently prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in non-profit or government accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work on-site at the East Point, GA office from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately 20% of the time.
Preferred:
- MBA or CPA
- Experience with Accufund
