Responsibilities
Has responsibility for all aspects of Credit Administration, loan approvals, number and quality of loans as well as the review of individual performance and training and guidance for a group of Commercial Lenders. Responsible for performing a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers; achieving customer service goals as established in the Commercial Lending Department’s annual operating plan; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial services function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports and providing guidance to Commercial Loan Officers. Responsible to accurately risk rate assigned loan relationships on a timely basis.
Essential Duties:
- Oversees and manages all aspects of Credit Administration for the group.
- Approves loans within lending authority.
- Assists in setting commercial lending goals for the group with input from members.
- Assists with training and mentoring of the other Commercial Lenders.
- Assists in the hiring of new Commercial Lenders.
- Monitors and reviews the performance of group members.
- Performs a variety of duties to meet the commercial sales and services needs of business customers.
- Maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities and solicit new business.
- Makes outside sales calls on prospective customers to assess needs, and describe and sell products and services.
- Provides sales information on a timely basis for customer service and sales performance reports.
- Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives regularly; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor frequently.
- Serves as a member of the bank’s sales team, making group sales calls to improve new business development opportunities.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services to ascertain customer needs and sell accordingly.
- Provides direct service to commercial customers regarding deposit, loan, and other miscellaneous products and services; approves or rejects loan applications within individual lending authority.
- Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments as necessary; provides help with specific inquiries or service problems.
- Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures impacting commercial services.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records of all customer sales and service calls made and meetings held.
- Provides quality service to customers, whether internal or external.
- Demonstrates cooperative efforts in working with other departments and within own department.
- Jointly establishes annual quantitative customer service and sales objectives with assigned supervisor, integrated with the Commercial Lending Department’s annual operating plan.
- Complies with established operating policies and procedures to maintain adequate controls and support the bank’s adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
- Communicates with management and staff personnel to integrate goals and activities.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her area, or requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and established policy.
- Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
- Provides guidance, on-the-job training, and technical assistance to Commercial Loan Officers under supervision.
- Monitors and reviews accounts for appropriate risk rating to avoid risk rating changes by Loan Review, the OCC, and other Loan Review processes.
- Maintains proficient knowledge of, and demonstrates ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensuring adherence to pertinent policies, procedures and internal controls, and meeting all job-specific requirements in a timely fashion.
Ancillary Duties:
As an integral member of the Commercial Lending Department, this position is also responsible for providing assistance wherever necessary to help the Commercial Lending Department and the Bank achieve their annual goals.
Qualifications
Education/Training: B.S. or B.A. degree in related field of study; specialized bank commercial lending education and training. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Skills: Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematic skills; strong communication, sales and negotiation skills; thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services; working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures impacting commercial services; technical skills sufficient to provide guidance and training to all levels of Commercial Loan Officers; highest level of lending authority among Commercial Loan Officers; valid driver’s license.
Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in related lending positions normally required.
