Sustainability Senior Analyst - News Corp
The Sustainability Senior Analyst will play a critical role in supporting News Corp’s Global Environmental Initiative program working closely with the Global Director of ESG, the VP of Environment and Sustainability and sustainability contacts within our businesses. The Senior Analyst role will be responsible for the qualification and quantification of News Corp climate and environmental intensities and supporting the build out of programs to mitigate those intensities on the company’s path to net-zero emissions. The position will focus on and be responsible for the management of environmental and climate / greenhouse gas (GHG) data collection and inventory, as well as any related reporting and disclosures, including the annual ESG Report, CDP responses, customer inquiries, and emerging regulations. The role will monitor and analyze trends related to net-zero, climate disclosures, GHG accounting and related regulations to support News Corp’s data management practices. The Senior Analyst will also have responsibility for the implementation and oversight of a data management platform, and ideally possess experience in implementing and standardizing data management solutions within an enterprise-wide sustainability program. We seek a candidate with a proven track record in data and project management, specifically in sustainability or climate-related initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Serves as News Corp’s environmental and climate data SME.
- Guides environmental data and GHG inventory process including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions in partnership with Corporate Sustainability team, verification and assurance or other external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Leads cross functional engagement to collect, track, analyze and support internal and third-party verification of climate and ESG data.
- Provides data and inputs for disclosures including CDP responses, ESG Report, ESG/climate regulatory reporting.
- Advises on development of climate metrics to evaluate, measure and monitor the progress and success of the company’s climate strategy and overall alignment to stakeholder requirements and expectations.
- Monitors ESG regulations, sustainability trends, best practices and peer initiatives, climate data management and disclosure processes.
- Updates data management practices to meet emerging regulatory requirements and industry frameworks.
- Develops tools to track and monitor the progress of the company’s climate strategy working with key stakeholders in our businesses.
- Assists VP – Environment and Sustainability in Global Environmental Initiative program execution by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, managing projects to successful outcomes, compiling information, benchmarking and other related activities.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in a related finance, statistical, data compilation, GHG data management, and/or reporting role with additional expertise in climate, sustainability, or ESG.
- A Bachelors’ degree (required) and Masters (preferred) in relevant fields including Sustainability Management, Environmental Studies, Accounting, Business Administration, etc.
- Experience with reporting and GHG data management tools strongly preferred.
- Ability to work with large data sets.
- Basic subject matter expertise in ESG, sustainability, and climate related issues, frameworks, and reporting programs such as CDP, TCFD, GRI, SASB, ISSB, GHG Protocol, Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), net-zero, etc.
- Prior experience with CDP or other climate disclosures is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience in developing presentations, communications, and talking points.
- Critical thinking and analytical capabilities with ability to understand and translate complex ESG and sustainability concepts in a concise and effective manner.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities, lead multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast paced, highly matrixed, dynamic environment.
Working Arrangement: Hybrid in office a minimum of 3 days per week
Pay Range: $100,000 – $140,000
