Position Overview
ThispositionassistsinmaintainingacomprehensiveaccountingprogramwhichintegratesGenerallyAccepted Accounting Principles, Governmental Accounting Standards, statutory/budgetary accounting requirements, Department fiscal policies and procedures, and general office administrative operations.This position assists with the day-to-day accounting activities of the Department including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and the travel system interfaces.Additionally, this position assists with the development of internal controls for the Department .This role is hybrid and may require several days a week in our Atlanta office depending on business needs.
What You Will Be Doing
· Assists with balancing and reconciling accountingrecords, includingjournals, ledgers,banking statements,automated travel system, shared services accounts payable, and financial reports monthly.
· Assists with monitoring the expenses of the Department, including daily, monthly, and quarterly financial reports.Ensures that the chart fields documenting expenses are accurate and aligned with state policies and procedures.
· Assists with vendor maintenance: gathering information needed to establish new vendors, ensuring vendor contact and payment information are up-to-date, and working with vendors to resolve any billing issues that arise.
· Assists with requisitions by ensuring coding accuracy and compliance and ensures the purchase orders are placed for such orders in a timely manner. Ensures all invoices are coded correctly and that services/products were received prior to invoicing. Assists the procurement specialist with preparing invoices for submission and processing by AP Shared Services and works with AP Shared Services staff to resolve any problems with the invoices. Conducts daily monitoring of purchase orders in accordance with Division policies.
· Enters purchases for equipment into the asset management system. Makes corrections in the system as required per supervisory review. Conducts physical inventory bi-annually, or more frequently if necessary.
· Assists with payments into official accounting records and internal records.Helps with the creation of invoices and speed charts.
· Performs the annual self-audit for PCard/purchasing in coordination with Department of Administrative Services (DOAS).
· Adheres to internal control policies and procedures when performing work.
· Performs miscellaneous duties such as risk management, space management, real estate rents, equipment rents, telecommunications, and fixed assets.
· Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Position Requirements
· Completion of Bachelor’s (four year) degree in Accounting
· One to three years of progressively responsible experience in accounting
· IntermediatelevelofknowledgeinMicrosoftOfficeSuite
Preferred Qualifications
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
· Knowledge of the State of Georgia accounting financial system
Hiring Range
· Compensation will be commensurate with education, certifications, and experience .
