Work Designation: Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be
hybrid or
remote. - If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. What does it take to be successful in this role? - Ability to manage effectively including delegating and managing workload, coaching and developing team members, influencing within and outside of the team, leading team members and others

- Experience/familiarity with major Investment or Accounting and Reporting systems (FAM, SAP, BW, BPC, Workiva, etc.) and Bloomberg
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and financial systems user applications (SAP preferred), including input/output processing and complex system concepts, and ability to understand and use computer systems and application tools for analysis
- Advanced proficiency level using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access software applications with VBA/macro experience preferred
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience performing financial analysis, reporting, and/or process improvement
- Exceptional database and spreadsheet skills required

Education & Experience Required - Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- Eight years of professional, job-related work experience in investments or related experience in investment accounting and reporting
- Four years in a leadership/senior/supervisory capacity
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification
- Seven years of professional experience directly focused on investment accounting and reporting
- Big 4 accounting experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities - Manages the employees' workload and ensures the timely completion of tasks
- Leads accounting and reporting of real estate owned (REOs) investments
- Functions as a subject matter expert on adoption of new accounting standards
- Leads the reporting of certain investments for US GAAP, US statutory and other regulatory reporting, as necessary
- Reviews, reconciles and approves entries between the subsystem and general ledger, including researching and resolving outstanding issues in a timely manner
- Reviews team members work (including daily and monthly reporting) and ensures completeness and accuracy before posting of activity to the general ledger
- Maintains a strong understanding of investment accounting and reporting requirements for both US GAAP and US Statutory
- Provides coaching, leadership development, and direction to Investment Accounting staff reporting to this position
- Continuously reviews processes for increased efficiency and effectiveness, and actively works with team members to execute on improvement recommendations
- Provides the necessary leadership to ensure the ongoing availability of a qualified and motivated staff to meet current needs and planned future growth
- Under the direction of Investment Accounting management, helps plan and develop strategies with the business units and Accounting Policy
- Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with business partners as their key point of contact in certain areas
- Maintains and ensures a continuous improvement culture by developing and tracking KPIs with the team, as well as driving the effectiveness of daily huddle meetings
- Displays and fosters positive team membership within the department; cooperates, listens to and values the opinions of others, and supports the goals of the department
- Performs other related duties as required
Total Rewards This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $83,000 to $193,000.
