The Finance Business Advisor (Project Controller) is responsible for providing strategic financial oversight and project control for key business initiatives. This role involves budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance supervising to ensure that projects stay on track financially and operationally. You will act as a liaison between leadership and project teams, offering insights and mentorship to drive decision-making and deliver financial outcomes aligned with the organization's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Financial Management:
- Coordinate project financials from initiation to closure, ensuring accuracy in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Track and analyze project costs, revenue recognition, and cash flow to ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Prepare and review project financial performance reports on a weekly basis.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Develop detailed financial plans and budgets for new and ongoing projects.
- Support the business in setting realistic financial targets and provide regular updates on budget variances.
- Conduct re-forecasts and scenario analyses to assess project risk and recommend corrective actions.
- Cost Control & Efficiency:
- Implement cost control measures to improve profitability and resource utilization.
- Identify areas of financial inefficiency and collaborate with project teams to optimize operational performance.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and project governance standards.
- Customer Communication:
- Serve as the primary financial advisor for project managers and other customers, providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and recommendations to senior leadership and project sponsors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial clarity and accountability.
- Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify financial risks related to project delivery and propose mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Support audits and financial reviews related to project finances.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze financial performance data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks or opportunities.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports for management decision-making.
- Maintain and improve financial models to support project evaluation and performance tracking.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years consulting experience.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA) are an advantage.
- 3+ years of experience in finance or project controlling, ideally in a project-driven environment.
- Solid understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting methodologies.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in cost control and project management in a consulting environment.
- Excellent communication and customer management skills.
- Strong analytical attitude with the ability to interpret financial data and drive strategic decisions.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $100,100 to $137,600. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
