Job Summary
Barings is seeking a Senior Associate for the Insurance Portfolio Management (IPM) team. The IPM team manages $20+ billion in AUM across large, multi-sector public/private fixed income portfolios for re/insurance clients. This includes effecting strategic/tactical asset allocation, risk management, security selection, liquidity management, portfolio surveillance, and reporting for 3rd party and internal clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Daily Portfolio Surveillance and Oversight
- Lead coverage for select public or private asset classes, including attending sector specific investment calls, investment committees, and serving as IPM subject matter expert for asset class
- Market research and Analysis
- Daily Liquidity/Trading management and monitoring
- Manage ad hoc, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting deliverables for clients and/or internal stakeholders
- Maintenance/management of IPM portfolio management tools/databases
- Lead operational and data initiatives
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree preferably with a focus on STEM or finance/economics
- 2+ years of experience
- Ability to manage large data sets
- Basic knowledge of financial statements/markets
- Ability to perform quantitative/statistical analysis on economic and financial concepts within a portfolio context preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills
- Experience in or exposure to one or more of the following: R, Python, VBA, SQL, MATLAB
- Ownership bias – ability desire to operate independently and manage processes start to finish
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with colleagues across different functional and geographic areas
