Direct Investment
1) Must have four years of investment experience in private equity, investment management, investment banking and/or family office with significant experience and substantive expertise in direct investments across diverse asset strategies (private equity, real estate, infrastructure, debt, etc.)
2) Assist in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and monitoring investment opportunities and evaluating new lines of business.
3) Support leadership in the execution of all projects and processes, including business development, acquisitions, direct investments and debt financings.
Business Development
1) Perform independent investment research on assigned areas, researching companies and investment opportunities.
2) Independently generate and screen new investment ideas for potential investment.
3) Develop and maintain professional relationships and contacts within the investment industry in order to conduct searches and gain knowledge of appropriate investment opportunities.
4) Develop and maintain analytical tools and framework to assess potential investments to support the investment selection process.
5) Draft reports detailing investment recommendations and actions.
6) Keep abreast of financial press and new trends and opportunities, as well as potential risks; Monitor major periodicals daily for news and other information that may impact our investments.
7) Research broad investment and industry trends, and opportunistic investment projects as required.
8) Gather and assess critical information related to the sourcing and evaluation of potential acquisitions.
9) Maintain up-to-date documentation of all investment relationships.
10) Perform ad-hoc research on private asset strategies.
11) Develop target lists for potential buyers, investors and strategic partners.
12) Conduct in-depth industry research and trend analysis.
Investment Due Diligence (Analysis/Underwriting/Structuring)
1) Perform investment analysis for direct investment opportunities.
2) Conduct due diligence processes for investment opportunities, including a thorough review of Private Placement Memorandum (PPM), financial modeling of various target company analytics, manage detailed due diligence sessions and evaluate the overall merits and risks of a potential investment.
a) Assist the investment team with coordination of operational due diligence and legal review for prospective investments.
b) Support the due diligence process for assets under contract, including coordinating with external parties such as brokers, engineers, and contractors.
c) Compile and present asset, property and/or market specific reports to management.
d) Interact directly with target/manager teams and provide a supporting role in deal organization, process tracking and due diligence.
e) Evaluate the target's leadership team, strategy, market opportunity, historical and pro-forma financials, operations, and competitive environment for potential investment opportunities.
3) Synthesize results of investment screening and due diligence into reporting that informs leadership in making key investment decisions.
a) Draft deal materials, including information memorandums, management presentations, financial models and analyses.
b) Perform financial valuation and analyses, provide oversight and framework for deal financial modeling, and conducts due diligence.
c) Assist in qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate and compare opportunities, risks, and performance of current and potential investment.
4) Accurately maintain complete due diligence project files received in diligence including financial, policy information, deal documents, and correspondence.
5) Achieve desired levels of data completeness and process integrity by consistently meeting timelines, quality metrics and goals.
Asset Management/Reporting
1) Manage the preparation of presentations and memorandums for the Investment Committee and Board including monthly and quarterly reporting packages and ad hoc analytics across a portfolio of diverse investments.
a) Maintain the investment database.
b) Oversee retention and organization of investment documentation.
c) Analyze and structure private asset investment data including performance, underlying investment and cash flow details.
d) Create asset-specific reporting and dashboard analytics.
2) Prepare reports related to performance, risk, and other ad hoc topics related to the direct investment portfolio.
a) Monitor, update, and create reports on investment performance, exposures, holdings, liquidity, and other key portfolio metrics.
b) Consult and coordinate with investment managers, analysts, investment accounting, legal counsel, custodian, third-party advisors and consultants.
c) Construct and maintain both AssetCo and HoldCo models for financial and capital metrics reporting.
d) Drive the integration of technology into the forecasting process.
e) Contribute to enhancing the P&L forecasting process, focusing on revenue & earnings projections and associated sensitivities.
f) Assume responsibility for conducting ad hoc projects related to portfolio management, operations, and investment research.
3) Participate in manager meetings with responsibility for notes, memos, and follow-ups.
Qualifications
1) Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a quantitative discipline and a strong academic record.
2) Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and/or Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred.
3) Four plus years of full-time experience with a top I-banking, Private Equity, Investment Fund, Family Office or Consulting Firm.
4) Prior experience with financing and loan applications and the relevant terms.
5) Real estate specific coursework or work experience is preferred.
6) Knowledge of private equity industry, market participants, investment structures and current trends.
7) Must be able to work in the office each and every day as this is not a remote or hybrid position.
8) Willingness to travel domestically as needed.
9) Availability and willingness to work outside normal business hours at times, whether early or late, and including weekends as required by transaction schedules and expectations.
Computer
1) Excellent Excel, SQL and PowerPoint skills.
2) Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas and functions including VBA / macros required).
3) Strong PowerPoint proficiency (experience working on client deliverables a plus).
4) Proficiency in Argus, Yardi, Costar and Real Capital Analytics preferred.
5) Knowledge of research products including: Capital IQ, Pitchbook, FactSet, Thomson One, 451 Research, Hoovers, IBISWorld, DealNexus, PrivCo, Corpfin, OneSource, and First Research experience is a plus.
6) Utilize tools such as DealCloud.
7) Prepare and manage virtual data rooms and coordinate client and third-party due diligence.
