Interested in a career in the Social Science Research Analyst field? We are hiring for GS-13 Social Science Research Analyst in Woodlawn, MD or Washington, DC!
As a Social Science Research Analyst, you will:
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of policy issues using appropriate research methodology and presents information and findings in analytical papers.
- Research and analyze problems and issues which concern critical, sensitive, or controversial policy matters. Explores and evaluates pertinent background and other information and the overall impact of such matters on the immediate, foreseeable, and long-range interest of the Agency.
- Prepare and present memoranda, briefings, and other material concerning the issues, findings, conclusions and proposed solutions.
- Work with higher-level researchers on complex simulation models, in order to provide guidance on formulating highly relevant output data.
- Prepare position papers and reports for higher-level officials.
To qualify for Social Science Research Analyst positions, applicants must possess one of the following:
- A degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate education; OR
- A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate education; OR
- Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBSTANTIATE POSSESSION OF QUALIFYING EDUCATION.
In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants must qualify for the posted grade level.
To qualify for the GS-13, applicants must also possess one of the following:
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the Federal GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include all of the following:
- analyzing survey or administrative data using a statistical software package such as SAS, Stata, Python, or R.
- analyzing the effects of policies on income, work, or economic well-being measures.
- producing written research products for academic or general audiences.
- conducting quantitative or qualitative research on communities or populations served by government income or health programs.
