Our new family member will be responsible for:
- Posting banking and other transactions to general ledger accounts
- Reconciling bank, credit card, loan, investment, and liability accounts on a monthly basis
- Contacting clients about missing work, transaction details, and questions
- Reviewing own work to ensure standards are met
- Preparing payroll transactions and remitting liabilities to tax authorities on a timely basis
- Updating employee demographic data including direct deposit information, withholding, and garnishments
- Preparing payroll tax returns including 941s, UC8s, W2s and 1099s
- Enrolling client employees in benefit plans and updating the employee contributions
- Reviewing - in detail - the transactions of the client each week or month for appropriateness, consistency, and completeness
- Ensuring that proper supporting workpapers are in place
Our new family member must:
- 3+ years of experience in a Public Accounting/Bookkeeping position is preferred.
- Proficient in QuickBooks (Experience in Accounting CS and/or tax software a plus)
- Experienced in MS Word & Outlook & extensive experience in MS Excel required
- Excellent verbal, written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks with attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently with cloud based systems is important
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team setting

- Is comfortable and confident communicating with clients and peers
- Is comfortable asking for help or direction when needed
- Is proactive and a team player
- Is available to work 35-50 hours per week during peak seasons

- Allow distractions to detract from the client's needs
- Hesitate to ask for help after trying known resources
- Delegate more work than they complete
- React defensively to problems or blame others
- Believe that they have learned all there is to know
- Speak about our client's confidential business
Experiences that are helpful:
- Extensive experience with payroll, payroll taxes and benefits
- Experience with Accounting CS or Creative Solutions, PracticeCS and FileCabinet CS
- Experience in a not for profit setting
- Experience with fixed asset and tax software
- Experience with internal controls
