How you’ll make an impact: As a Tax Senior on our team, you will be responsible for local tax compliance including sales and use tax, property tax, assist with special projects, and supplement other areas of accounting as needed. In this role, you will:
- Maintain a checklist or calendar with required filing dates by return type and taxing authority to ensure timely completion of all required returns.
- Manage all aspects of sales tax compliance including determining appropriate tax codes, sales tax registration, exemption certificate management, and returns filing and remittance.
- Maintain reconciliations of tax accounts to the general ledger monthly.
- Prepare various other tax filings including forms 1099 and 1042.
- Document tax related processes and identify opportunities for improving those processes.
- Handle inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders.
- Correspond with Corporate Tax as it relates to nexus questionnaires, audits, notices, and refunds.
- Handle recurring information requests from Corporate Tax around data collection packages for US federal and state income tax, tax fixed asset data, and unclaimed property data.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in Public Accounting
- CPA certification preferred
- Experience with NetSuite and Avalara or similar software is a plus
- Experience in the Software/SaaS industry is a plus
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to function effectively both independently and as a member of a team
- Self-motivated, with a proven ability to learn quickly and work effectively in an evolving work environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
