Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
- With guidance prepares and reviews tax returns, provisions, work papers involving some complexity and significant cost. Participates in tax planning/analysis/audit projects under guidance of senior or principal/manager. Researches and advises customer/suppliers at middle management and staff level on tax issues. Identifies and reports to manager/principal tax savings ideas as they arise in the compliance process. Supports other compliance/planning activities of Manager/Principals as required. Responsibilities would include those of low to medium potential benefit/cost consistent with status as experienced tax professional. *This is a hybrid role that will require coming onsite to Detroit headquarters 3 days a week*
Key Accountabilities
- Completes returns, provisions, work-papers in a timely, accurate and thorough manner.
- Contributes to successful conclusion of tax projects through application of developing tax research and analytical skills reflecting knowledge of the business as well as tax law and procedure.
- Develops relationships with suppliers/customers/government officials to further tax and business objectives and more efficient accurate compliance process.
- Researches results reflecting thorough analysis of facts and issues expected of a tax professional, presented in concise, thorough, yet understandable manner.
- Implements tax savings ideas improving corporate cash flow or earnings.
- Contributes to tax compliance/accounting process improvements including use of technology to improve performance.
- Pursues external "networking" and professional development.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience as a tax professional
Other Qualifications
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, or MBA, MST
- Experience working for a large corporation or clientele
- CPA

- Proficient verbal, nonverbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with suppliers and customers.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
