What's the role?
Bloomberg's Legal & Compliance Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations around the world. We move quickly and thoughtfully to help address a variety of complex legal issues that arise across the Company's various businesses. The Global Compliance team provides coverage of Bloomberg's regulated entities and products, including support for Bloomberg's non-regulated products and services. We work to address regulatory issues, ensure compliance with current/developing rules and regulations, and correspond with regulators. We are currently looking for an experienced person to work with our Compliance team!
As a Product Owner for the Global Compliance Function, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing regulatory technology ("regtech") builds with Compliance Engineering. In this capacity, you will work closely with Compliance Engineering management and team members, Compliance Advisory teams, along with key stakeholders in other functions such as Electronic Trading Risk and Product, Global Data, and Sales to deliver solutions that strategically evolve and support the Global Compliance Program.
We'll trust you to:
- Help develop and drive a strategic vision for Compliance Engineering work that supports the Global Compliance Program
- Influence Compliance, Engineering, and business leaders to develop solutions that allow Compliance teams to minimize regulatory risk with maximum efficiency
- Have strong awareness of the global financial crimes regulatory landscape and a proactive mindset towards managing and mitigating associated risks
- Monitor and benchmark our control environment against industry best practices for technology that supports financial crimes compliance
- Articulate business requirements and overall prioritization for engineering work through clear, compelling, and concise communication
- Assess, interpret, and discuss regulatory and technical concepts in a clear manner that helps stakeholders make informed decisions
- Approach problems and potential solutions with a data-driven mindset around tooling and underlying information
- Be responsible for managing the sanctions engineering book of work, and support other domains as needed (e.g., Employee Compliance, Client Screening, etc.)
- Collaborate extensively with Compliance Engineering, Financial Crimes Compliance, and other stakeholder groups that play key roles in sanctions processes such as Global Data and Electronic Trading
You'll need to have:
- A minimum of 7 years of combined product development and compliance experience
- A bachelor's degree
- Experience working with Engineering and a solid grasp of product development principles
- Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner to colleagues at all levels
We'd love to see:
- Scrum Product Owner certification
- Familiarity with defining and tracking objectives and key results ("OKRs")
- Enthusiastic about product development and a strong desire to collaborate on solving complex problems
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude

Salary Range: 180,000 - 210,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
