The Senior Financial Analyst is a member of the Business Area CFO team within the Finance organization. In this highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to help develop the long-range strategic plan, drive efforts to improve efficiency and productivity of the organization, and partner with senior leaders to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and deliver strategic initiatives across the business. The Business Area CFO team provides financial guidance and support to the business areas within Equitable.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support in the development of Equitable’s strategic objectives to ensure its continued discipline for growth and profitability.
- Financial analysis, including business case support, monthly business review reporting, P&L management, sales projections, expense budgeting, etc.
- Build financial models that help forecast business outcomes under various scenarios.
- Help to identify, assess, and evaluate new business opportunities, including new market and product/service ideas; and help support the analysis and comparison of alternative opportunities for entering new markets.
- Analyze data to provide strategic insights; identify issues, structure problems, and generate actionable recommendations using formal problem-solving frameworks and critical thinking.
- Research competitors in the market to provide management with meaningful analysis to benchmark financials vs. peers.
- Create dashboards with actionable metrics to help manage and understand the trajectory of business.
- Develop presentations for senior/executive management which provide insight and recommendations on complex financial topics, including quarterly earnings.
- Support the Business CFO and Business Leadership through sound advice and counsel.
- Function as project manager during cross-functional initiatives and liaise between business lines and Finance – “Face of Finance.”
A successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple, complex assignments and competing priorities, and must be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment. This high-performing team works with a results-driven approach and transparent communication.
The base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Business.
- 2+ years experience working in a financial/business analyst role, internal/external strategy and/or business partner role.
- Established Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills to manipulate, model and analyze large/complex volumes of data.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- Insurance/Financial licenses, Six Sigma, Project Management, CPA, CFA and/or actuarial certification.
- Technical, analytical and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems and drive change.
- Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations that synthesize complex problems and recommended solutions.
- Experience creating the financial story/story-telling results.
- Prioritization skills with a clear focus on results.
- Initiative-taking and self-directed work style who seeks regular proactive feedback from supervisor.
- Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and work within a fast-paced, project-driven and team environment.
- Experience using Hyperion, SAP or another ERP tool.
- Knowledge of and passion for the financial services industry.

- Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
- Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
