SUMMARY: The basic function of the Accounting Manager position in Baker Electric is management and development of the accounting team by identifying and implementing automation technology and process efficiencies for accurate and timely processing of invoices, receipts, disbursements, month end closings, and other functions of accounting. In addition, the team member will be expected to play a significant role in the month end close accounting procedures and analysis of budget to actual variances as well as assist with our annual budgeting process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 2+ years’ experience managing the accounting function including the AP, AR and General Accounting.
- Manage all vendor and 3rd party relations.
- Reconcile various accounts, including vendors, banking, general ledger and others as needed.
- Partner with Human Resources to hire, train, develop and performance manage team members. Manage all internal employee relations.
- Develop, implement, document, and maintain processes, procedures and policies related to the accounting function and ensure adherence to company guidelines.
- Manage month end close in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring adherence to the prescribed financial reporting deadlines.
- Support the Project Managers and Operational staff in a collaborative manner by responding to financial questions/concerns to meet the various business needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with all customers and vendors.
- Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Q3 & Q4 budget preparation assistance (includes researching YTD activity), data entry and imports into budget software.
- Protect the organization; ensuring information remains confidential. Confirm financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
- Maintain accounting controls by establishing and implementing standardized policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Controller.
- Provide guidance to other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational challenges.
EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE: Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree is required.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- 2+ years of experience directly supervising a team of 1-4 people.
- Proven Job Cost experience.
- Construction industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic payment processing, vendor releases, and California sales & use tax regulations.
- Proficient to advanced skills in MS Office Suite applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) and accounting software.

The starting salary for this opportunity range is listed.
