American National is seeking to hire a full-time team member who will lead accounting personnel responsible for the daily reconciliations of investment-related activities including, but not limited to, transactions, holdings, and bank balances. To be successful in the position, you will have investment accounting and leadership experience.

What you will do:
- Drive and motivate a team of accounting professionals to ensure the completion of accurate work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Utilize appropriate software as a service for accounting stock, bond, and option investments, and personal computer software systems for variable accounting and reporting.
- Execute the firm’s systems and workflow across all functions related to investment operations.
- Drive process improvements, striving to increase efficiency, and ensure best practices.
- Coordinate and assist team with investment accounting reconciliations.
- Ensure process feed between systems are accurate and delivered timely.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of statutory financial reports required by various state insurance departments, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and internal management, including the preparation of board reports for four Texas-domiciled life/health (L/H) companies where applicable.
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly statutory reporting, and responsible for the effective communication of the results.
- Supervise the preparation and review of all statutory quarterly and annual filings to NAIC and state insurance departments.
- Run the preparation and review of annual statutory audited financials and responsible for the coordination of an audit with external auditors.
- Research new accounting and reporting guidance.
- Participate on a cross-company team to implement new guidance.
- Administer the accounting system and related procedural workflows to ensure consistent processes and accurate records related to investment accounts and positions, trade allocations, security pricing, capital transactions, securities reorganizations, composite memberships, and performance calculations.
- Ensure integrity of system data and maintain capabilities for providing accurate recurring and ad-hoc reporting deliverables to both internal and external clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance preferred.
- Professional work experience in investment accounting and insurance.
- Leadership experience.
- CAMRA, Clearwater, SAP, ERP system knowledge is beneficial.
- CPA beneficial.
