JOB TITLE: Finance Team Leader
REPORTING TO: Director
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Overall responsibility for the business’s day to day financial processes, working cross-functionally to provide relevant and accurate management information to support budgeting, financial planning and process improvement. Compliance with regulations and management of cash flow.
Primary functions:
Financial Reporting and Accounting
- Supervise and maintain accurate and timely financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax filing.
- Management of accruals and customer rebates.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Issue payments to suppliers and purchase foreign currency.
- Managing new customer and supplier set up processes.
- General housekeeping of data and accounts.
- Assist in year-end closing together with the Director and our appointed accountants.
Cash Flow, Credit Control and Budget Management
- Monitor daily cash flow and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Rigorously apply agreed business Credit Terms and Conditions.
- Track, investigate cross-functionally and report actuals vs budget, Purchase order variances and provide causal summaries where required.
Personnel
- Overall responsibility for the Finance team and accurate performance of daily tasks.
- Conduct Annual appraisals and facilitate training and development opportunities.
- Issuing and maintenance of Employment Contracts for new starters and existing staff across the business.
- Keeping appraised of any relevant changes to Employment law.
- Coordinate overall business staff holiday planner and monitor sickness levels.
Compliance
- In conjunction with our accountants:
- Ensure compliance with UK tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, and National Insurance.
- Stay updated on changes to financial legislation and implement necessary processes to ensure compliance.
- Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies as required.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in financial operations.
- Ensure strong internal controls are maintained in the finance function.
- Support system updates, implementations and migrations, including working with our finance software providers.
Business Support
- Provide financial insights and reports to assist with strategic business decisions.
- As part of the management team, provide financial guidance and support business growth initiatives.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as needed.
Secondary functions
- Provision of holiday cover for the Accounts Team and other office staff where required.
- Support in the absence of the Director.
General Requirements:
- To comply with WorldBake Company Policies.
- To operate to and help continually develop the BRC Brokers and Traders Framework as defined by the WorldBake Quality Management System to maintain food safety, quality, legality and defence.
- To be a member of the HACCP Team.

Qualifications and Experience:
- AAT qualified or part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (desirable but not essential for SMEs).
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a small business environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in supervising a small team and mentoring finance staff.

Pay: £36,260.00-£40,000.00 per year
