MSIG North America continues to grow!
The Sr. Reinsurance Analyst is responsible for reporting and analysis for ceded and assumed reinsurance including loss and premium activity that satisfies MSMM’s Reinsurance Reporting Guidelines to reinsurance markets. Gathering information and developing skills needed to interpret contract language. Reconciliation and validation of ceded and assumed recoverable and payable. Provides necessary support for monthly close process, manage assigned accounts, special projects as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Percentage of Time:
Account Management 50 %
- Responsible for documenting, reviewing and booking assumed and ceded reinsurance premiums. Works with underwriters to obtain necessary paperwork and compiles assumed reinsurance files. Creates assumed reinsurance certificates in an accurate and timely manner. Follows up with ceding company for payment. Handles ADIA assumed book of business and uses EAS system proficiently for booking premiums.
- Monthly & quarterly, processes all assumed and ceded losses and requests reinsurance documentation to support large losses. Creates and maintains reinsurance claim files with supporting documentation. Manually monitors assumed reserves in excel.
- Responsible for settling and collecting premiums and losses.
Customer Service 30%
- Works closely with ceding companies to handle any premium or loss discrepancies.
- Handles accounting and underwriting inquiries and researches booked data discrepancies between the Reinsurance and Accounting Departments. Determines and documents the correction to be made. Processes corrections for accounts as needed.
- Researches questions from outside sources including Tokyo, reinsurers, underwriting and claims personnel, auditors and others.
Analysis
Documentation and Support 20%
- Creates and documents process and procedures for assumed functions performed in the Reinsurance Department.
- Assists Operational Accounting Manager and Reinsurance Accounting Manager as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:
- High School degree is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- 5-7 years of related insurance and reinsurance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
