Profile:
A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a Senior Financial Services Associate/Counsel with a focus on Aviation Finance. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience representing lenders and/or lessors of commercial aircraft in leasing, purchase and sale, and financing transactions. The role requires significant experience leading both domestic and cross-border transactions. Candidates must demonstrate excellent academic performance, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage complex aviation finance deals. Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is preferred.
Duties:
- Represent lenders, lessors, and other financial institutions in commercial aircraft leasing, purchase and sale, and financing transactions.
- Advise clients on the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of aircraft finance deals, including secured loans, leases, and asset-backed transactions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate finance agreements, purchase agreements, leases, security agreements, and related documentation.
- Lead cross-border and domestic transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and international laws.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel, to facilitate transaction closings.
- Manage the due diligence process, including reviewing title, lien searches, and aircraft registration documentation.
- Provide strategic counsel on aviation finance matters, including market trends and risk management.
- Support junior associates and contribute to the development of the aviation finance practice through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- 4-6 years of experience representing lenders and/or lessors of commercial aircraft in leasing, purchase and sale, and financing transactions.
- Proven experience leading both domestic and cross-border transactions in aviation finance.
- Strong understanding of the commercial aviation industry, including regulatory and compliance considerations.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong client management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree (or equivalent) from an accredited law school.
- Excellent academic credentials, with a focus on finance, business, or commercial law.
Certifications:
- Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is preferred (or willingness to obtain).
