This is a senior role in the Finance team and is responsible for overseeing and supervising the accounts receivable and accounts payable departments and ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the company’s financial accounting records, including the general ledgers, accounts receivables ledgers and accounts payable ledgers for all legal entities in New Zealand. This role is responsible for treasury and banking functions and ensures all taxation processes are managed. As a senior member of the finance team, this position plays a key role in providing analysis to the wider business for better decision making. This position will lead the Shared Service team in New Zealand.
Main Responsibilities
Statutory Reporting, Account Payable and Account Receivable- Managing financial processes such as accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain General Ledger of all the country legal entities.
- Manage reconciliations for all sub ledgers and general ledger.
- Ensure transactional aspects of business units’ results are accurate, through identifying key issues arising from data accuracy and pro-actively proposes changes.
- Ensure that local reporting is completed according to IFRS standards and to Local GAAP regulations and Group reporting according to Group reporting standards.
- Managing preparation of month end and year end accounting services by ensuring the transactional processes and activities (which include accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting) are completed accurately within monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines.
- Manage the ERP uploads and reconciliations in time and accurately.
- Ensure timely and accurate controls in ERP’s and validating income statement and balance sheet correctness at month-ends.
- Manage the preparation and filing of statutory reports in a timely manner.
- Lead the annual external audit process ensuring legal compliance, Huhtamaki Group compliance and excellent accounting practices are in place and constantly improved upon. Main contact person for local auditors.
- Manage accounting of company assets.
Treasury and Taxation- Managing treasury and banking related functions.
- Prepare all treasury required reporting and draft estimates.
- Manage taxation processes for corporate income tax, fringe benefit tax, GST etc. according to taxation deadlines.
- Ensure the integrity & accuracy of the compliance work in respect of the company's taxation obligations.
- Manage foreign exchange cover to ensure the business is protected from adverse exchange rate movements.
- Ensure that short term liquidity positions are identified and managed appropriately.
- Manage the cash flow and working capital reporting.
- Establish and review financial systems ensuring accurate results are produced, which can be relied upon to make business decisions.
- Monitor capital management plans, including management of the fixed asset system.
Continuous Improvement and Analysis- Manage the delivery of finance policies, processes and practices.
- Manage finance projects aimed to improve existing finance processes such as the creation of new value-added tasks to optimise current finance service levels.
- Review local practices and implement and monitor the standard finance processes and procedures.
- Be responsible for the accurate deployment of new finance processes and procedures because of business improvement initiatives.
- Promote a continuous improvement culture in finance processes focused on effectiveness, efficiency and quality. Identify areas for improved financial recording, reporting, analysis and action.
- Support business with special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Any ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required.
Other Duties- Working collaboratively across the business to support and provide guidance and enhance financial decision making, through providing relevant and detailed information and analysis as required.
- Manage insurances for all units and ensure that company assets are adequately protected.
- Key-user for Accounting applications in ERP (Ledgers, GL, Cash Management).
- Act as the key contact point to business relating to financial accounting related topics in country legal entities.
- Any other duties as required by the manager.

Qualifications Required
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, ideally finance or accounting.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required
- Deep expertise in local GAAP and IFRS, differences between them.
- Deep expertise in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payment processes.
- A tertiary qualification in accounting with professional association membership – ideally ICANZ.
- A minimum of 8 years' experience at senior level within a corporate accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of finance processes/internal controls.
- Deep understanding of FX Contracts and FX valuations.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and external audit processes.
- Deep experience with NZ taxation requirements.
- Experience in ERP implementation.
- Previous experience in people leadership.
- Ability to think long term and strategically, yet plan and implement projects.
- Confidence and the ability to develop and implement strategies to influence and impact people at all levels in an organisation.
- Ability to assess processes and identify efficiencies to be gained.
- High level of knowledge and experience in Excel.
- Knowledge of SQL/Power BI.
- Experience in implementing new initiatives and rolling out new ways of working.
