SR. ACCOUNTANT
The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, is a critical member of the General Accounting team who will play an impactful role in the day-to-day accounting operations of SpaceX. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for recording fixed asset accounting transactions, and lease transactions, preparing various balance sheet reconciliations, and providing support for other ad-hoc requests. The ideal candidate will be an independent, creative, dynamic, collaborative problem solver.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the construction in progress (CIP), fixed asset, and prepaid accounting processes
- Assist in the development of global fixed asset accounting policies and procedures to satisfy US and foreign compliance requirements
- Work cross-functionally with multiple teams at SpaceX on internal processes and controls related to the disposal of fixed assets
- Optimize existing accounting operations (Microsoft Dynamics D365), internal systems, and software tools for efficient accounting and financial reporting
- Maintain monthly supporting schedules (depreciation, amortization, roll-forward schedules, etc.)
- Ensure monthly close is completed accurately and timely and by pre-established deadlines
- Be the main point of contact to assist the finance and tax teams with CIP/PPE ad-hoc requests
- Prepare other general ledger journal entries including balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation and identify and resolve variances
- Assist in the monthly reporting process, including participating in continuous process improvement efforts
- Provide support for financial statement audits as well as other various audits
- Provide support for other ad hoc analyses and projects as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years of accounting experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- CPA designation with public accounting experience
- Strong accounting knowledge and an understanding of US GAAP
- Positive attitude and ability to be flexible to changing priorities, especially in month/quarter/year-end close
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SQL
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to be a self-starter
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to work long hours and weekend when needed to meet critical deadlines
- This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote or hybrid work will not be considered
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Sr. Accountant: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
