Job Summary and Qualifications
The Senior Accountant performs general accounting functions at the direction of the Assistant Controller to help ensure the compilation and reporting of accurate financial information related to hospital operations.
What you will do in this role:
- Prepare monthly closing journal entries using knowledge of accrual-based accounting. Review assigned sections of the balance sheet throughout the month to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
- Prepare complex balance sheet account reconciliations and make timely corrections and assist in development of the annual budget, Medicare Cost Report completion, and preparation of Tax work paper packages.
- Prepare referral source check requests for providers, including tracking and calculating the monthly professional fees accrual and assist with Fixed Assets management.
- Prepare reconciliations for inventory accounts, including ensuring that adjustments to inventory accounts are properly documented and approved.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting at the request of the Controller and maintain Industrial Accounts.
- Respond to requests for information related to both external and internal audits.
What Qualifications you will need:
- Education: BS in Accounting or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum two years of accounting experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
- Special Qualifications: Requires a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Must have proficiency in business software applications, including but not limited to: the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
