What you’ll be doing…
Verizon seeks a talented and motivated Senior Manager, Regulatory Liaison to join its Public Policy team. This position will report to the Senior Managing Associate General Counsel responsible for state and local regulatory and policy matters, and will specifically support Verizon’s legal team that handles those responsibilities. The candidate will work closely with our legal and state government affairs teams, business partners, and the state and local regulators to respond to requests from regulatory agencies and customer complaints that have been escalated through those agencies. The candidate must have sound business judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to assess and improve workflow processes. The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment is critical, as is the ability to develop key relationships and maintain a visible presence with regulatory officials.
Key Responsibilities include:
Serving as a central point of contact and liaison with state and local government regulators, responding to their inquiries and preparing the legal team to participate in formal and informal proceedings with these regulators.
Working with other Verizon teams to respond to customer complaints that have escalated through regulatory bodies.
Supporting regulatory reporting responsibilities in various states.
Supporting regulatory attorneys in handling formal and informal cases, proceedings, and complaints in various states.
Managing and tracking formal and informal cases and proceedings in various states.
Working independently in resolving multiple complex customer complaints, including analyzing, responding to and advising on and escalating high risk requirements.
Understanding state and local regulatory requirements.
Being fluent in Verizon’s wireless and wireline product portfolio.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and / or military experience, or specialized training.
Experience working at or interacting with government regulatory agencies.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A degree.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communications.
Strong relationship building, influencing, and communications skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
Confidence, versatility and a customer service attitude to interact with government officials as a primary point of contact for Verizon.
Comfort with new technologies, including automation, that promote efficiencies.
Strong interest in policy and politics.
General understanding of state and local regulatory law.
Potential future interest in legal training.
General understanding of internal Verizon processes.
Experience with organizational reviews and commitment to improving and harmonizing processes.
A creative mind that asks if there is a better way to do things than what is currently being done.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $121,000.00 and $225,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
