Location of Position
This position is a fully remote position, with a hybrid work schedule of 2 in-office days highly encouraged if located near our NYC or Buffalo office locations.

Position Summary
The Sr. Accounting Manager position is a key player within the asset management vertical and involves a multitude of accounting and finance responsibilities in all areas of financial accounting, reporting, year-end audits, and budget activities for the distributed generation power projects across the CleanCapital portfolio.
Core Responsibilities
Reports to the Sr. Director, Controller.
Manage staff accountants who perform multiple supporting roles for the senior accountants and accounting managers including posting cash transactions, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable invoicing, accounts receivable collections.
Manages the monthly and quarterly close process in accordance with our timeline, reviews portfolio-level financial statements for distributed solar and battery storage portfolios which may include projects in development, projects in construction and/or operating projects, including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, posting of journal entries, etc.
Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices).
Review budget vs. actual reporting with variances in accordance with our close timeline. Ensure the team is working closely with Technical Asset Managers to understand performance issues causing variances against budget.
Ensure debt and/or tax equity and other financings’ compliance requirements are met in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist with the formulation and standardization of internal controls and policies to comply with best practices and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices).
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions of the solar projects.
Manage the standardization of the posting of monthly, quarterly, and annual general journal entries.
Manage onboarding new portfolios in compliance with our policies and procedures.
Manage quarterly distribution calculations in accordance with our process and timeline for all operating portfolios.
Manage the monitoring of all aged A/R and work with cross functional teams to resolve any issues.
Prepare work papers to support year end audits.
Ensure audit and tax filings for various portfolios are completed on time.
Responsible for review and delivery of annual budgets.
Identify process improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions to optimize current processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Occasional travel expected.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting required. CPA required.
Technical Skills and Experience
3+ years of experience working in public accounting and CPA required, specifically with audit engagements is required.
Experience managing staff in a fast-paced environment is required.
5+ years of accounting experience strongly preferred.
Experience as an assistant controller a plus, but not required.
Experience in the renewable industry a plus, but not required.
Must define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop sound conclusions.
Preferred experience, but not required:
Working Accounting function in the renewable energy sector
Experience with Sage Intacct and Bill.com
Ability to understand financial models and the potential impact of operations on investments.
Proven ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas and run with them from concept to conclusion.
Technical understanding of clean energy business processes
Exceptional verbal and writing communication skills with superiors, peers, partners, and other stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Excellence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
