The UC Davis School of Medicine Dean's Office is responsible for the overall administration of activities relevant to the School of Medicine. The school consists of 25 departments and 15 centers. The Dean, her leadership team, and her office provide oversight, support, and guidance to the departments and maintain a collaborative connection between UC Davis Campus and UC Davis Medical Center to support the mission areas of education, research, clinical care, and community.

Responsibilities This analyst is responsible for high-level analysis and review of SOM Financials and process oversight and coordination of funding relating to various areas across the School, Health System and Campus. Provide central review of internal and external recharge rates, calculation of undergraduate teaching (student credit hours) by the School of Medicine and split appointment faculty, create, document, track and project agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), tracking and management of the SOM tenured faculty funding, including monthly ledger review to ensure compliance with tenured faculty payroll restrictions and rules. This analyst would also help and assist on the compliance and use of Dean's office funding support to departments and centers throughout the year. There will also be ad-hoc projects and reports based on immediate needs from the Academic Business Officer or Executive Assistant Dean.
The Analyst is responsible for financial program and project management assistance within the UC Davis SOM Dean's Office and serves as a central resource for departments to assist with consistency and transparency in operations and decision making. The incumbent independently manages short and long-term deadlines; coordinates with several external stakeholders; and represents the SOM in meetings and sessions. Additional project and program work in assigned as initiatives are developed by leadership.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent accounting/finance or related field.
- Accomplished organizational and analytical skills to assume general assignments and independently follow through to successful completion; to manage details of complex projects and events.
- Ability to exercise analytical and problem-solving skills to research, collect analyze and interpret data and to identify potential effects of decisions and recommendations.
- Excellent organizational skills: demonstrated skill to work on projects with competing deadlines and to establish goals and workload priorities; flexibility in dealing with people and competing demands.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and to make effective decisions based on knowledge of Campus and University priorities, resources, and policies.
- Ability to integrate feedback and demonstrate accountability for decisions and actions
- Proven ability to prepare and present a budget and to manage all operations of a year-long project. Ability to analyze the viability of revenue options and cost containment strategies.
- Excellent diplomacy and judgment to represent UC Davis, School of Medicine in situations with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated acumen to work in an executive-level office environment. Ability to represent the SOM Executive Leadership Team with professionalism, tact, and discretion to all constituents.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate in person, investigative skills to elicit information needed to clarify inquiries and requests; and professional skills to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically, and to work effectively and sensitively with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
- Knowledge of existing systems: Kuali and Decision Support required; PPS, PPSDS, Provision System, DESII, and APHID preferred. With demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly and efficiently. Experience as subject matter resource on systems with systems implementation and change management highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to interact diplomatically with diverse personalities and to exercise judgment and tact in interactions with faculty, staff, students, the public, and government officials.
- Working knowledge of the operational and long-range goals and policies of University of California, UC Davis, the Health System, and the School of Medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior officials and executives from within and outside the University and the ability to think strategically and serve as resource for brainstorming options and alternatives.
- Ability to anticipate problems/roadblocks and associated consequences and taking appropriate initiative to reduce adverse effects.
- Excellent typing, writing, editing and proofreading skills to quickly and accurately produce correspondence and other written materials.
- Excellent project management skills to facilitate and support for multiple meetings spanning a variety of subjects, objectives, and goals.
- Skilled and strict adherence in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive issues/matters; ability to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.
Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
