Talascend is currently seeking a Stress Analyst for an opportunity in Indianapolis, IN.
SUMMARY:
- Seeking some people with some mid-range to support some of the other junior personnel.
- Stress analysts with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in ANSYS, workbench and APDL preferred.
- One of the two preferred to have thin walled aerospace structures experience.
- Gas Turbine experience.
- Steady and modal analysis experience.
- Crack prop experience.
- Testing experience, Strain Gauge Placement/Reading/Postprocessing would be a nice bonus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a Contingent Structural Analysis Engineer you’ll perform a range of system structural assessments across the full product lifecycle, including new design concepts through to in-service operations.
- You will also bring forward innovative analytical and experimental solutions for customer issues to meet whole product mechanical integrity requirements, including static, transient, and dynamic loads and responses.
- Perform system level structural assessments, such as Whole Engine Modeling, static and dynamic analysis.
- Experimental test planning and interpretation, such as correlation of simulation to experimental data.
- Facilitate teamwork between many disciplines (i.e. - manufacturing, quality, engineering, product support, etc.).
- Communicate technical and business results via reports and presentations to senior engineers both within and external to the client.
- Participate in technical reviews, Product Safety Reviews, Technical Life Reviews and Customer Reviews.
- Take an active role in continual improvement of our engineering methods and processes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Engineering with 4+ years of experience - OR -
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2+ years of related experience - OR -
- Master’s degree in engineering - OR - JD/PhD.
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
- Previous experience building and running models for static and dynamic structural analysis.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) codes such as Nastran, Ansys, Dyna3D, NX.
- Exposure to experimental testing and data interpretation, in particular for vibrating structures.
- Ability to quickly learn mechanical integrity topics, such as Whole Engine Modeling, rotordynamics and extreme event assessments (e.g. bird strike, fan blade off, etc.).
- Programming skills such as Matlab, Python, Fortan, Java, C, C++ and an interest in automating or scripting analysis tasks.
- Ability to plan and coordinate assigned work with other groups and drive to finish assigned tasks on schedule.
