Our client is a leading biotechnology company based in Atlanta, GA, is dedicated to pioneering scientific discoveries and advancements in the biotech field. They are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of their financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of their organization.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare, analyze, and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide support for budgeting and forecasting processes.
General Accounting:
- Oversee and participate in day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Maintain and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of schedules and documentation for external audits, liaising with auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process.
- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards, implementing necessary changes within the organization.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function, recommending and implementing enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Streamline financial processes, leveraging technology and automation where applicable, to optimize workflow and reduce manual effort.
Collaborative Teamwork:
- Work closely with the Accounting and Finance Managers and other team members to support various financial initiatives and projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
