Job Description
Position Summary
Accounting Managers are responsible for the accounting, both GAAP and tax, of either corporate/service/management entities or portfolios and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of related operational and reporting data and provide a high quality of service for ASO business partners and customers.
Accounting Managers will be expected to supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Accounting Supervisors, Senior Financial Accountants/Financial Accountants and review/approve their work for completeness and accuracy. Accounting Managers shall enforce—amongst their teams—the adherence to standard accounting policies, practices, and processes.
Accounting Managers will also be expected to provide ASO business partners and customers (e.g., Business Leads, Business Financial Analysts, Regional/Property Managers) necessary information required for the business partners and customers to effectively operate their businesses. The Accounting Manager shall also maintain a satisfactory quality of service as defined by Service Level Agreements (SLA) which represents the minimum requirements. Accounting Managers will be expected to provide quality of service levels that exceed these minimum requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage accounting staff and oversee daily application of property/entity transactional accounting principles, policies, and processes. Review/approve journal entries, audit work papers and financial statements. Review accounting staff work to ensure the completeness and accuracy of accounting transactions. Oversee complex tasks from accounting supervisors, senior and entry level financial accountants. Support periodic (monthly, quarterly, annually) closing processes as related to respective property portfolios, as required. Review and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures. Review and approve month-end, quarter-end financial packages and transactions for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Responsible for the analysis of corporate accounting portfolio, including items such as proper treatment of transfers, capitalized interest and other GAAP/tax differences. (60%)
- Prepare and analyze supporting materials for regulatory and external financial reporting. Prepare, analyze, and communicate key financial and operational reports to be distributed to FCE Executives and other internal customers. (15%)
- Provide coaching and mentoring to Accounting Supervisors, Senior Financial Accountants/Financial Accountant. Conduct performance evaluations and manage direct reports’ performance development process. (15%)
Education
This position requires a(n) Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree in Accounting.
Additional degree(s) that are preferred for this position include:
Advanced (Master) Degree

- Accounting Capabilities and Advanced GAAP Knowledge - Required
- 5-7 Years Real Estate, Public Accounting, Financial Reporting, Internal Controls, and Process Improvement - Preferred
