Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be
hybrid or
remote. - If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. What does it take to be successful in this role? - Extensive knowledge of accounting and financial reporting requirements
- Ability to direct and manage minor systems enhancements and SCR's representing the user's perspective and needs
- Knowledge of employee relations to deal with employee issues in a proactive manner
- Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with Aflac's senior management, internal and external business contacts

Education & Experience Required - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 6 years of professional job-related work experience
- 4 years in a leadership/senior/supervisory capacity
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred - Experience in the insurance industry

Principal Duties & Responsibilities - Manages the daily operations of the accounting team supporting D&V, PLADS, and Tier One; leads, motivates and coaches employees; gathers and analyzes data and reports that pertain to the overall operation of the department and completes reports summarizing activities and trends; assists in strategic and tactical operational plans to ensure achievement of company and departmental goals; performs independent review of problem situations.
- Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close; ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information; supports budget and forecasting activities; collaborates with Financial Services management to support overall department goals and objectives.
- Coordinates and oversees the preparation of monthly reconciliations of various balance sheet and income statement accounts in the general ledger and supporting sub ledgers; reviews accounting entries in the general ledger through the appropriate systems.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with business partners; stays abreast of current trends and regulatory changes in the industry and recommends alternative business practices, procedures, solutions, and strategies based upon best practice research.
- Develops solutions and implements actions to resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction; reviews processes and procedures to streamline activities to enhance service turnaround time, productivity, and quality; coordinates overall workflow of the department and ensures that workflow processes facilitate effective and efficient use of corporate resources and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Coordinates and monitors training efforts to ensure the necessary education tools are provided to department employees; identifies and communicates training needs and schedules with training department; projects staffing requirements for the business unit; provides direction for or performs coaching and counseling of employees; coordinates employee development and incentive initiatives.
- Establishes and enforces an environment of strong process controls and documentation (including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls); adheres to accounting policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Total Rewards This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $83,000 to $193,000.
