Job Description:
Our Company is in search of a self-directed, personally driven and experienced Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and consolidating financial statements.
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls.
- Managing all aspects of the general ledger – ensuring that the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable are entered and posted timely and accurately.
- Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses of various company entities.
- Recording accrual, prepaid, depreciation, adjustments and the like entries to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Coordinating or assisting with the budget process.
- Researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP.
- Assisting external auditors and supporting various company audits.
- Recommending and participating in the implementation of changes to accounting procedures and reports in an ongoing effort to continuously improve the quality of information and services provided.
- Maintaining the company’s fixed assets including book and tax depreciation methods.
- Tracking construction in process through the year from the capex requisition forms to implementation.
- Supporting personal property tax returns for Kentucky, Maine, Connecticut, South Carolina.
- Supporting the lease accounting process.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of accounting theory and keeping current with developments and trends.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting - documentation required.
- Must meet ITAR definition of US Person - documentation required.
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, innovation, problem solving, and results.
- Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Solid time management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
- Perform general office and data entry duties.
- Willing and open to learning experiences.
- Adhere to all Quality and Safety standards.
- MTI is a safety-sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment drug testing will be required.
Preferred requirements:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is desired.
- 5 to 8 years’ experience in the Accounting field is desired.
- Experience with Dynamics / Great Plains is desired.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The employee is regularly required to sit, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. Work in an office environment and use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse, and keyboard – 95% of the work day). The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud at times.
