Senior Accounting Generalist

Annual Compensation ($USD): 78,992 paid on a bi-weekly basis.
A Brief Overview
Under limited supervision, the Senior Accounting Generalist is responsible for performing advanced accounting operations and analyzing detailed financial statements. Provides support for department staff as a subject matter expert.
What you will do
- Perform all processing activities for any transaction processing as assigned, including vendor invoice processing, cash disbursements, billings, cash receipts, vendor invoice adjustments, billing adjustments, voiding checks, address book changes, approving workflows, processing purchase orders, reviewing expense reports, etc.
- Perform general accounting functions as assigned, may lead general accounting activities by organizing activities and serving as a subject matter expert for staff, including journal entry processing, account reconciliation, account analysis, audit preparation, etc.
- Serve as a Controller's Office point of contact for WCAA and non-WCAA personnel. Lead customer service operations by organizing activities and serving as a subject matter expert for staff.
- Serve as point of contact for elevated customer assistance interactions as necessary. Customer assistance may include but is not limited to: answering questions, explaining accounting items, resolving payment/billing issues, monitoring mailboxes and responding to emails, demonstrating activities/processing in the accounting system, etc.
- Lead and participates in Departmental projects as assigned. Projects may include the inventory of assets, the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, the implementation of new business processes, etc.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for staff on generally accepted accounting principles, especially as they relate to governmental and airport specific matters
- Participate in the management of all aspects to grants and reimbursements for all grants (Federal and State) for Detroit Metro and Willow Run Airports.
- Ensure that processes and procedures related to Construction in Progress, Grant and Capital Asset accounting are up to date and accurate.
- Coordinate with other Authority Departments regarding all aspects of grant management, PFC and CIP management processes.
- Evaluate processes and works on an on-going basis to identify and implement improvements
- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree with a major course work in Accounting from an accredited college or university, and 3 or more years of experience with fixed asset and/or construction project accounting and reporting, which must include a minimum of two (2) years of experience in each of the following:
Managerial analysis, and reporting; ANDReconciling general ledger accounts and data; ANDPerforming periodic inventory counts and reconciliation of those results
- Proficient with Office Suite Software (Core - Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets)
- Proficient with Accounting/Financial Software
