Reporting Specialist, Risk – Position
Sunnova Energy is searching for a Reporting Specialist, Risk to create the processes and controls to extract, analyze, and internally report volumetric and price (i.e., assets,
contracts, customers and production volumes) data from internal and external systems and serve as the single source of truth for commercial data for the organization (e.g., Energy Services, Sales Ops, Customer Support, Finance, etc.) to perform his or her functions. This position requires advanced data analytical skills and expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Responsibilities- Work with commercial, IT and operations to ensure completeness and accuracy of data used in the position and P&L reporting process.
- Identify, implement, and execute processes to ensure all changes to object (i.e., system, customer, contract, product) status relevant to Energy Services’ commercial and operational requirements are captured accurately and completely within core systems in a timely manner.
- Analyze production results and explain variances between current month, prior month and accruals.
- Provide support and assistance to the accounting team and operations to research and resolve prior period discrepancies.
- Reconcile actualized volumes per our sales system with metered volumes and follow up on discrepancies.
- Collaborate with finance operations, commercial, IT and operations to improve processes and provide reliable analysis.
- Gather supporting documents and provide explanations for audit request for consolidated and stand-alone financial statements (as applicable).
- Document and update desk procedures for assigned tasks.
- Support commercial and risk functions through producing ad-hoc reports
Minimum Requirements- A bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in data science, management information systems, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or a related field
- Expertise in, and prior experience with, data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau
- 5+ years of highly specialized subject matter experience
- In-depth understanding and experience reporting and analyzing environmental trading markets and instruments
- Experience working across functions and communicating with senior level management
Preferred Qualifications- Previous experience in energy, particularly in residential solar
- Professional risk management certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM)
- CPA, CMA, CFA, or other advanced, professional, business-centric certifications
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Positive, self-motivated and can-do personality – growth mindset essential
- Very organized and strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects while working under pressure and with
- time constraints
- Ethical team player; always maintains the highest degree of integrity
Working Conditions - Open-office environment
- Overtime may be required during certain deadlines
- Estimated travel time is less than 1%
