General Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Accreditation, Cancer Registry and Clinical Research, identify, abstract and maintain records for all eligible cases of malignancy, adhering to American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and UM BWMC Oncology Registry standards and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate submission of data to the National Cancer Data Base and the Maryland Cancer Registry according to regulations. Manage and maintain follow-up in adherence with ACoS standards. Manage registry staff to ensure the accuracy and quality of data maintained within UM BWMC oncology database, and participate in coordination of Oncology Conferences and Cancer Committee meetings within the system. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Cancer Registry and administrative activities with regard to Quality Assurance, Regulatory and Database Management, Cancer Committee meetings, Tumor Board, and Breast Conference.

Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Director, Accreditation, Cancer Registry and Clinical Research.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of degree, 10 years of increasing cancer registry and accreditation responsibility will be considered. Minimum of 5 years’ experience abstracting and a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) with a demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, medical records and medical office skills. Must have a working knowledge of a computerized registry database with the ability to manage, retrieve, and analyze oncology data. Administrative or management experience preferred. Required Skills: Strong Written Communications Skills, Excellent Interpersonal Skills, Ability to maintain proper records and operational data. Knowledge of cancer software packages, electronic medical records and state and national reporting is required. Previous experience using a business office suite, such as Microsoft Office, is required.
