Senior Program Specialist (Finance/Accounting) – Law School
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Senior Program Specialist (Finance/Accounting) – Law School at its Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (Job Duties):
- Coordinate personnel, budgetary and organizational planning, analysis and development for the Law School's programs and projects.
- Facilitate the processing of HR and financial transactions in accordance with university policies and procedures, including preparation responsibilities and review of accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations. Perform payroll and budget reconciliation to ensure accuracy.
- Compile and analyze financial information in conjunction with preparing financial statements and supporting schedules. Ensure that all financial reporting deadlines are met, and financial records are maintained in compliance with prevailing policies and procedures. Oversee and monitor School Accounts for fiscal integrity.
- Oversee and participate in operational programs/projects. Prepare templates or proposals for new projects. Coordinate funding, monitor costs and resources, and services. Develop and implement policy and procedural changes.
- Review and grant budgeting approval of personnel actions; determine availability of budget funds necessary to maintain position and budget control. Conduct deficit monitoring and clearance of general fund, designated, auxiliary and indirect cost funds; review and interpret financial commitments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience in budget preparation and management, differential tuition, policy writing, project management, and implementation of projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Results Orientation - Demonstrated strong skills and a track record for sustained measurement of program outcomes, ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve desired results.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to compare, contrast, and quality check work.
- Strong analytical skills including critical thinking, mathematics, financial monitoring, and complex problem solving.
- Proficient in the use of electronic financial management systems.
